Different Types of Garden Clocks

Garden clocks are unique items to add to your garden that not only tell the time but also add personality and decor to your environment. There are many different styles of garden clocks as well as different materials that are used to make them. It is most important that when you choose to purchase a garden clock, you make sure that it is weather proof.

Garden clocks typically are placed outdoors, even if they hang on the wall like a regular clock would, or hang on a wall attachment. Garden clocks should be able to handle not only even tempered weather conditions, but the extremes of seasonal changes including gusty Autumn, stormy Winter, rainy Spring, and humid Summer.

There are special materials used to make garden clocks that are weather proof. One material is metal, specifically iron, aluminum, brass, or copper. These metal clocks, primarily cast iron, are the most popular materials chosen in garden clocks because metals are not only sturdy, but visually appealing against plants.

There is quite a variety of metal garden clocks to choose from because they are the most demanded material. You can find standing, table, or hanging garden clocks made of various metals.

Another type of material used to make garden clocks is terracotta. Terracotta is not as popular of a material, but it is able to withstand the affects of weather. Terracotta is not as popular because it does not match other materials in your garden as well as a cast iron clock might, but if your garden is designed with terracotta accents, a terracotta garden clock would probably work well in your garden.

The third material used in making garden clocks is resin. This is the newest material used in making garden clocks and is quickly becoming popular because of its versatility. Resin is a plant-based material that comes from primarily evergreen trees, and therefore is weather proof. It is versatile because it is able to be molded and then painted to look like metals, such as cast iron. It is also less expensive than metal, so if you are searching for a garden clock that looks like cast iron but you are unwilling or unable to pay the price, you would be able to settle for an imitation iron garden clock that is made of resin.
